Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry

Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry

A realistic approach to the study of mechanisms. The book addresses real functional group chemistry with an emphasis on the biological, environmental, and medical applications of organic chemistry.
ADVICES FOR STUDYING ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
1. Keep up with your studying day to day –– never let yourself get behind, or
better yet, be a little ahead of your instructor. Organic chemistry is a course in
which one idea almost always builds on another that has gone before.
2. Study materials in small units, and be sure that you understand each new
section before you go on to the next. Because of the cumulative nature of organic
chemistry, your studying will be much more effective if you take each new idea as it
comes and try to understand it completely before you move onto the nest concept.
3. Work all of the in-chapter and assigned problems.
4. Write when you study. Write the reactions, mechanisms, structures, and so on,
over and over again. You need to know the material so thoroughly that you can
explain it to someone else. This level of understanding comes to most of us
(those of us without photographic memories) through writing. Only by writing the
reaction mechanisms do we pay sufficient attention to their details:
1) which atoms are connected to which atoms.
2) which bonds break in a reaction and which bonds form.
3) the three-dimensional aspects of the structure.
5. Learning by teaching and explaining (教學相長). Study with your student peers
and practice explaining concepts and mechanisms to each other.
6. Use the answers to the problems in the Study Guide in the proper way:
1) Use the Study Guide to check your answer after you have finished a problem.
2) Use the Study Guide for a clue when you are completely stuck.

Morrison Boyd Organic Chemistry

Morrison Boyd Organic Chemistry
In this classic introductory text, the authors aim to identify the new concepts of organic chemistry, to select the ones that are clearly fundamental to the learning of organic chemistry, and then to build them into a framework of the book. The cornerstone of this framework is that chemical behavior is determined by molecular structure. Each topic is presented fully and clearly at a level appropriate for beginning students. The authors emphasize relationships between the seemingly unrelated facts and theories that students are learning in order to reveal the broad and complex pattern underlying organic chemistry. Where possible, they lead the students to find the pattern themselves, by working problems.Download file in here free

Industrial Organic Chemistry

Industrial Organic Chemistry John Wiley & Sons, 2003 - 491 halaman
This best-selling standard, now in its fourth, completely revised English edition, is an excellent source of technological and economic information on the most important precursors and intermediates used in the chemical industry. Its translation into eight languages and the five German and four English editions are clear evidence of the popularity of this book.

'... it is where I look first to get a quick overview of the manufacturing process of a product... Weissermel/Arpe has been serving me for years as an indispensable reference work.' (Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie)
'It would be unkind and misleading to call this book a poor man's Kirk Othmer, but it could almost be described as an encyclopedia... it is easy to read and one has to admire the authors' dedication and endeavor in getting so much into a single volume. They have provided a book that is interesting reading as well as being an excellent reference. It is a highly recommended book, which I hope the authors will find the energy to continue updating on a regular basis.' (Chemistry in Britain)
'...it should be ready to hand to every chemist or process engineer involved directly or indirectly with industrial organic chemistry. It should be in the hand of every higher-graduate student, especially if chemical technology is not part of the study, like in many college universities...' Vogel's Practical Organic Chemistry

Vogel's Practical Organic Chemistry (5th edition)
One of the best books there is out there teaching practical organic chemistry is the one written by Arthur I. Vogel. The author is now deceased, but his teachings continues to live on - there has even been published a fifth edition of his masterpiece A Textbook of Practical Organic Chemistry after his death, containing many new preparations and procedures with techniques discovered in the last decades, which has been added to the book by other editors. However, the third edition of his book (first published in 1956) is actually of much better use to the hobby chemist, as it does not make use of any hideously expensive glassware/apparatus or exotic reagents or catalysts. Back in those days, an organic chemist was supposed to make many of his precursors himself, and to purify solvents and reagents in the lab before using them, as they were not available from chemical supply houses in 99.99% purity. There are even sections on glass-blowing in the book. The organic chemists of that day hadn't access to million-dollar NMR machines or GC/MS analytical equipment, therefore the preparations in this book don't require the use of such unavailable machines to identify products, only simple melting points to be taken, or the identification of certain odors, colors or crystal shapes.

Spectrometric Identification of Organic Compounds

Spectrometric Identification of Organic Compounds, 7th Edition (EHEP000410) cover image

General description
Originally published in 1962, this was the first book to explore the identification of organic compounds using spectroscopy. It provides a thorough introduction to the three areas of spectrometry most widely used in spectrometric identification: mass spectrometry, infrared spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry.

A how-to, hands-on teaching manual with considerably expanded NMR coverage--NMR spectra can now be intrepreted in exquisite detail. This book uses a problem-solving approach with extensive reference charts and tables, and offers an extensive set of real-data problems offers a challenge to the practicing chemist.

This problem-solving textbook, designed for students and practicing organic chemists, teaches how to identify organic compounds from the synergistic information. It has been updated to include eight chapters, expanded coverage of instrumentation, numerous practice problems, and additional problem solving strategies for students. This book contains updated figures, high quality spectra, and excellent readability student-friendly writing style. Download Ebook Free In Here

Modern Organic Synthesis in the Laboratory

Sampul Depan
Oxford University Press, 10 Sep 2007 - 224 halaman
Searching for reaction in organic synthesis has been made much easier in the current age of computer databases. However, the dilemma now is which procedure one selects among the ocean of choices. Especially for novices in the laboratory, it becomes a daunting task to decide what reaction conditions to experiment with first in order to have the best chance of success. This collection intends to serve as an "older and wiser lab-mate" one could have by compiling many of the most commonly used experimental procedures in organic synthesis. With chapters that cover such topics as functional group manipulations, oxidation, reduction, and carbon-carbon bond formation, Modern Organic Synthesis in the Laboratory will be useful for both graduate students and professors in organic chemistry and medicinal chemists in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries.
